Early Life and Career

WEB Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20, 1964) is an American politician and attorney who made history as the first female, first Black, and first Asian-American Vice President of the United States. She was sworn in on January 20, 2021, alongside President Joe Biden.

Harris's journey to the vice presidency was shaped by her experiences as an attorney and public servant. She graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and began her career as a prosecutor in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.

Political Career

Harris entered politics in 2003 when she was elected District Attorney of San Francisco. She served in that position until 2011, when she was elected Attorney General of California. As Attorney General, Harris focused on criminal justice reform, consumer protection, and environmental issues.

In 2017, Harris was elected to the United States Senate, becoming the second Black woman to serve in that body. In the Senate, she advocated for healthcare, education, and immigration reform.

Vice Presidency

In 2020, Harris was selected by Joe Biden to be his running mate in the presidential election. The Biden-Harris ticket went on to defeat incumbent President Donald Trump.

As Vice President, Harris has played a key role in the Biden administration's efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic, the economy, and racial justice.
