Pere Romeu clears the air: "No Keira Walsh drama here!"
Barcelona president addresses rumours of player unrest
Barcelona president Pere Romeu has moved to quash rumours of unrest within the women's team, insisting that there is no "Keira Walsh drama" at the club.
Walsh has been linked with a move away from Barcelona in recent weeks, with Manchester City and Chelsea both reportedly interested in signing the England international.
However, Romeu has denied that there is any truth to the rumours, and he has insisted that Walsh is happy at Barcelona.
"There is no Keira Walsh drama here," Romeu said. "She is a very important player for us, and we are very happy with her."
Walsh has been a key player for Barcelona since joining the club from Manchester City in 2018. She has helped the team win two Primera DivisiĆ³n titles, two Copa de la Reina titles, and the UEFA Women's Champions League.
The 25-year-old has also been a regular for England, and she was part of the squad that won the 2022 UEFA Women's Championship.
Walsh's contract with Barcelona expires in 2024, and there have been reports that she is seeking a new challenge.
However, Romeu has insisted that Barcelona are not willing to sell Walsh, and he is confident that she will remain at the club for the long term.
"We want Keira to stay at Barcelona," Romeu said. "She is a world-class player, and we believe that she can help us achieve our goals."
