Florida Panthers announce updated roster for the 2023-2024 NHL season
Key additions and departures
The Florida Panthers have announced their roster for the upcoming 2023-2024 NHL season, with several key additions and departures. Notably, the team has signed free agent forward Matthew Tkachuk to a seven-year, $76 million contract. Tkachuk is a dynamic offensive player who scored 42 goals and added 62 assists for the Calgary Flames last season.
The Panthers have also added defenseman Anton Stralman on a one-year, $1 million contract. Stralman is a veteran with over 600 NHL games of experience, and he will provide depth to the Panthers' blue line.
On the departure side, the Panthers have traded forward Jonathan Huberdeau and defenseman MacKenzie Weegar to the Calgary Flames for Tkachuk. Huberdeau is a two-time All-Star and one of the most productive players in the NHL, while Weegar is a young, up-and-coming defenseman.
