Since their inception in the 1993-94 season, the Florida Panthers have yet to make a single Stanley Cup Playoff appearance, leaving them with an unflattering record of 30 seasons without a postseason berth.

A History of Captains

Over the course of their history, the Panthers have had 10 different captains, none of whom have been able to steer the team to playoff success. In 2018, Aleksander Barkov became the 10th captain in franchise history. Under his leadership, the Panthers experienced a surge in performance that culminated in a breakout season for Barkov himself.

Bill Torrey, the legendary architect behind the New York Islanders' four-time Stanley Cup championship run, was initially brought to South Florida to lead the Panthers. However, despite his past accolades, Torrey was unable to replicate his success with the Panthers, who continued to struggle on the ice.
