The United States Secret Service (USSS), or simply the Secret Service, is a federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security.

Its primary jurisdiction includes investigating threats against Secret Service protectees and financial crimes.

Protections and Responsibilities

The Secret Service ensures the safety of the president, vice president, their families, the White House, and the vice president's residence.

It also protects visiting foreign dignitaries and investigates financial crimes.

Recent History

In July 2024, Mary Beth Wilkas Janke became one of the less than 200 female Secret Service agents in the early 1990s.
